serendipity

Serendipity can be explained as ‘finding value whilst not looking for it’. As in this case, the perfect harmony of two hand-blown coloured glasses from Takeyoshi Mitsui's Silence series, and two small, abstract sculptures by Coen Kaayk. A greater difference in cultural background, style, working methods and age between two artists is hardly imaginable. They don't even know each other, yet they belong together. Such a fine case of serendipity proves the importance of experiment. Interesting fact, given the importance of colour in this case, is Mitsui's colour blindness.
