genius loci

In the eyes of a child, Grandma Victoria's - Toia’s - house basically consists of a courtyard with a green fence, a basket with vegetables from the garden, a pile of scrap metal collected by an uncle and a dog in front of its pen, under an endless blue summer sky. In the drawing, unimportant details are omitted. By recording only the essential elements it captures the genius loci: serenity, Toia's pace, a sense of belonging. The drawing is a blueprint of happiness. And a gentle plea for naivety.
