On 29 March 2006, this pebble was lying on the beach in Side, Turkey. The date is significant, as the next day a total solar eclipse took place here. The overwhelming eclipse lasted a few minutes. The pebble has been polished to a point of sheer perfection over perhaps millions of years. Since the coinciding events on the beach - the find, the eclipse - this little stone with its white ring represents a great natural phenomenon. Nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, if you can really see its shapes, material and colours. Architecture equals looking, associative thinking and making.
