transparent figure

To explore 'bodies', artist Anthony Gormley plays an intriguing game with mass. His installation Expansion Field (2014) consists of large, dark, stacked volumes. This small, transparent figure is the light counterpart to this. It is made of wafer-thin steel plates and epoxy. Straight from the front it is transparent, but from the side it is not, here you can see rusty metal. That perspective matters is emphasised by the reflection of the light.
