The commissioning of the preserved and renovated town hall Woerden is approaching fast. The moving in is almost ready and the finishing touches are currently being put to the completion of a number of eyecatchers in the building.
For the council chamber, for example, cepezed and cepezedinterior designed a dimmable ‘LED chandelier’ in the shape of the old ramparts, which lends the room a unique Woerden characteristic. QC Lightfactory from Bavel manufactures the luminaire, using both computer-controlled milling machines and craft techniques. The chandelier has a diameter of more than eight meters and consists of a configuration of lightweight aluminum profiles covered with acrylic sheet material.
The new council chamber is located on the ground floor, adjacent to both the public hall and the garden and is designed as a fully multifunctional space. The furniture is supportive to changeable use. For example, special lightweight tables have been designed that together form the round board setup, but are also easy to fold and move. A stage can be turned into a public gallery. The space is therefore easy to transform from council chamber to event hall or auditorium.
The final completion of the town hall in Woerden is planned for mid-April.
