Bravis' new hospital will be compact, sustainable and shaped like a clover. The outdoor space will be designed as a park. In the past months, several sessions were organised together with over a hundred Bravis employees. Over the next eighteen months, the sketch design will be developed into a final design.
stepped design
Architectural combination Team aan de Schie has presented the sketch design for the new Bravis hospital in Roosendaal. The future hospital will be located on the Bulkenaar, a site on the south-west of the city. The new building has a stepped design and is nowhere higher than 24 metres. The building is embedded in the surrounding landscape park designed by Karres and Brands. The combination Team aan de Schie consists of cepezed and Vakwerk Architecten, the landscape design for the plot will be designed by BoschSlabbers, Deerns is responsible for the installation advice and ABT for the constructions.
short walking distances
Daylight is optimal and patients and staff have maximum views of the green surroundings. Thanks to short distances, everyone finds their way quickly and easily. Inside and outside, visitor flows are separated from the ambulance route, logistic movements and bed transport. The park will include walking and cycling paths.
sustainable
Bravis' sustainability ambitions extend beyond the legal requirements. The new hospital will be an all-electric building, without gas, and will have thermal storage and solar panels. The same sustainability ambition applies to the landscape environment, where Karres en Brands took the natural collection of rainwater into account and used semi-paved parking areas.
follow-up process
Now that the sketch design is ready, the preliminary design will be finalised in the course of this year and the final design around summer 2024. Construction is scheduled to start in 2026, so that in 2029 the new hospital can provide care to the residents of West Brabant and the eastern part of Zeeland.
