cepezed and Barcode Architects will design the transformation of Gele Scheikunde (Yellow Chemistry) - a former TU Delft faculty complex. With a winning tender, the developing combination of Amvest and Kondor Wessels Vastgoed recently acquired this more than three-hectare area near the city center of Delft.
redevelopment
The faculty site, on which the characteristic yellow-colored brick TU Delft chemistry complex is located, no longer had an educational function and was therefore offered for redevelopment. In the new plans, the area forms an important connection between the Delft city center and the university campus.
green residential enclave
The choice was made to develop the location into an attractive green residential enclave with a varied housing program of 300 owner-occupied houses as well as rental homes in the social and middle segment plus a commercial plinth. Old and new built will form a characteristic blend. In the presented vision, in three years’ time, Gele Scheikunde will become a place for pleasant living; with small-scale activity and 'a heart' where residents and people from the neighborhood can meet.
inner city area development
In the coming period, the developing combination will elaborate its ideas for the inner-city area development. These plans will be revealed in the course of 2020.
