In four weeks' time, the first building by Lister Buildings will be completed. This startup focuses on the construction of circular wooden residential buildings. In 2020, Lister Buildings and cepezed started a cooperation under the name Lister Architecture, aimed at the large-scale production of modular homes made of wood.
pilot project
Next month, Lister will deliver the first project: "It is actually a pilot project: we are building six appartments in different sizes to show what we mean by this: 'We grow homes to rebuild our planet'," says ceo Viviane Regout in conversation with Merel Pit and Tracy Metz in a podcast of the Architect.
philosophy as cepezed
Regout further talks about the system that Lister Buildings developed together with cepezed, with which they can build very flexibly. Just like the philosophy of cepezed, it is based on prefabrication in order to pursue high quality. Lister Buildings also has a platform with its own development branch, a design office, a production facility and an exploitation company. "We want to be in control of the entire life cycle of a building. That starts with thinking about a site and a design."
design
Together with its own architects and cepezed, Lister Buildings initially focuses on the design: "How do we make it as smart as possible? How do we create that building system? How do we ensure that the detachability of the building is in order? How do we make smart details to make that possible?" says Regout, who has the ambition to produce some 1,000 to 1,500 homes a year with Lister. Preferably with a remountable design and biobased materials.
