Inholland celebrates start of new building in Amsterdam Sluisbuurt with virtual tour

Inholland Amsterdam cepezed

The new construction of Inholland Amsterdam in the Sluisbuurt on the Zeeburgereiland starts today. Employees, students and the residents of the Sluisbuurt can already discover the new building that cepezed designed by means of virtual reality. Construction combination Visser & Smit Bouw | HOMIJ Technische Installaties will realise the college building, which is expected to be completed in 2024.

eye-catchers
Thanks to a virtual tour by cepezed, interested parties can take a look inside the new building. "One of the eye-catchers is the planting on the roof," writes Inholland in a press release. "The flexible layout of the spaces and the large amount of daylight from outside also stand out. Other showpieces in the building are the high-tech laboratories, which the Life Sciences courses will soon share with the ROC van Amsterdam. This will promote a smooth transition of MBO students to college.

interdisciplinary cooperation
By accommodating almost all of the study programmes from Amsterdam and Diemen in a single building, Inholland is strengthening mutual cooperation and educational innovation. In this way, the university is contributing to social issues in the Amsterdam metropolitan region that require interdisciplinary cooperation. For example, Inholland has developed the 'Sluislab' on Zeeburgereiland. Within this Living Lab, students from various programmes, together with researchers and partners from the neighbourhood, devise concepts that contribute to the development of this area.

human metropolis
"Amsterdam's ambition is to build a human metropolis. In area development, therefore, we do not just want to build homes, but a complete city. This also includes facilities such as businesses, schools and sports. We are therefore pleased that Inholland has chosen Amsterdam and the Sluisbuurt area. Nearly 7,000 students bring liveliness and an eagerness to learn to Amsterdam," says alderman Marieke van Doorninck for Spatial Development and Sustainability.
