Jan Pesman has been asked by the Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam to introduce the film An Engineer Imagines during the special screening on Friday evening 9 October. The documentary is an ode to Peter Rice, the brilliant constructor who worked on the most iconic buildings of the twentieth century.
constructive icons
An Engineer Imagines follows Rice’s extraordinary life and career through legendary works such as Lloyd’s London, the Sydney Opera House and in Paris the Centre Pompidou and Cité des Sciences in Parc de la Villette. As an architecture student, Jan Pesman visited the construction sites of both Parisian projects several times.
simplicity in form and structure
Jan admires and shares Rice's quest for simplicity in design and construction. After all, it is this simplicity that runs through the projects of cepezed as a common thread. Due to Covid-19, Jan's speech unfortunately is not live in the film theatre but already recorded in advance.
