Ronald Schleurholts, architect and partner at cepezed, lectured at Delft Technical University on 4 October about his firm's approach to transformation and renovation projects. The presentation was part of a lecture afternoon on design attitude towards heritage, within the Heritage & Architecture studio. Co-speakers were Ninke Happel (Happel Cornelisse Verhoeven) and Bram van Ekeren (Diederendirrix). Wessel de Jonge, professor of Heritage & Design at the Faculty of Architecture, hosted the afternoon.
modular thinking
In his presentation, Ronald Schleurholts outlined the general design philosophy and approach of cepezed, focusing on a high degree of modular thinking and prefabrication. Circular design and prevention of material waste are an integral part of this.
renovation projects
Using various examples, including their own office, Ronald Schleurholts showed how cepezed applies this design attitude in renovation and transformation assignments. Subsequent assignments such as the recently festively opened ArsenaalDelft and Park Hoog Oostduin were also discussed. The latter, the transformation of the Shell headquarters from the 1960s into a modern apartment complex in The Hague, won the prestigious Gouden Feniks (Golden Phoenix Award) for best renovation project in 2020.
