Menno Rubbens, director of cepezedprojects, will give a keynote lecture on circular development s and building at the FutureBuilt-conference in Oslo on June 7th. The FutureBuilt-conference is an annual event, known to be the most important conference on climate friendly architecture and urbanism in Norway. Each year organizer FutureBuilt hosts around 400 participants, including politicians, property developers, architects, urban planners and consultants from all over Norway. This year’s event is set up around the theme ‘resources’, and around relevant projects within the realm of sustainable design and building. Developer cepezedprojects was invited to elaborate on the concrete, hands-on, case of the Temporary courthouse Amsterdam. This circular building was realized by cepezedprojects with building company DuPrie and designed by cepezed and cepezedinterior.

Menno Rubbens: “In the presentation Building as Product we discuss various circular product concepts and the specific tender, design, realization and operation of the Temporary Courthouse on the basis of the circular business model that underlies the project. Which considerations were made in the different phases of the project and how was the interaction within the consortium and with the client and user?”

The list of speakers at the event also include Jennifer Keesmaat, former Chief city town planner of Toronto; Dimitri Zenghelis, super economist and researcher at the London School of Economics; Lene Coradi, mayor of Asker (Oslo).

Menno Rubbens was trained as an architect and economist. Since 2008 he is director and owner of cepezedprojects, which develops and builds projects at risk. Affiliated to the office of cepezed architects, cepezedprojects is active as initiator, designer, consultant and developer of various circular building projects. Apart from the Amsterdam Courthouse these include The Green House in Utrecht and the transformation of the Armamentarium Delft. In all these projects, realizing a building as an intrinsically valuable product is the main theme.
