The construction of the nearly energy-neutral new Coenecoop College in Waddinxveen can start in early 2022. HEVO, the project manager, has contracted three specialised contractors.

Middelwateringbouw B.V. (architectural work), Bectro Installatietechniek (mechanical installations) and Schulte & Lestraden (electrical installations) are the selected contractors. Construction of the new educational building, which will be gas-free and meet the requirements of both ‘Frisse Scholen’ and BENG (near-zero energy building), will start in mid-March of 2022.

The Coenecoop College offers education to over 950 students at vmbo, havo and vwo level. The new building will offer a healthy learning environment with a pleasant climate and good orientation possibilities. Sightlines are long and the green of the surrounding area runs through the atrium into the school. The largely transparent façades strongly contribute to the relationship between inside and outside.

cepezed created the design for the new construction of this school in Waddinxveen. The basis of the interior design was laid by cepezedinterieur. They also designed several elements, such as worktops integrated into balustrades that look out onto the atrium. The atrium is the connecting space of the building and houses the main staircase that forms one entity with a playful grandstand with seats.
