plug & play prefab bathrooms

Recently, the second series of prefab bathrooms has been delivered in ArsenaalDelft. The monumental 17th-century former arms storage is currently being redeveloped by cepezedprojects in collaboration with Driestar, into a conference and exhibition space, restaurant and hotel with 63 rooms. The construction is coordinated by cepezedbouwteam. The transformation design was produced by cepezed architects and is aimed, among other things, at a minimal impact on the monumental and listed building, keeping the original construction in view as much as possible and an efficient and smooth execution. In that light, cepezed chose to build an important part of the new plan from modular, composite elements.

The bathrooms of 61 hotel rooms are designed as complete prefab units and detailed and engineered down to the millimeter. Specialist in prefab bathrooms Portisa manufactured the units in their factory hall in Werkendam. The units of approximately 2 x 3 meters (only with shower) or 3 x 3 meters (with shower and bathtub) have an independent construction with a steel floor frame and walls of set steel profiles. Flat, coated steel panels are mounted to the profiles and directly form the seamlessly sleek interior finish. The floor tiles, lighting and all bathroom elements up to and including the fittings are also mounted at Portisa. All electricity and water connection points are clustered in a shaft-like recess for a quick and easy installation on site. Sealed in protective packaging, the bathrooms are transported ready-to-go to the construction site, hoisted in and positioned at the locations of the new hotel rooms where they will be connected in the coming weeks. The outside of the units is finally included in the finishing of the hotel rooms.
