Over the past 10 years, the Railroad Zone in Tilburg has metamorphosed into a vibrant place where Tilburgers and visitors alike can relax, come together, work and house in fantastic new and transformed edifices. To celebrate this, the Day of the Railroad Zone Tilburg was organized on June 4th. cepezed, together with Dura Vermeer Railinfra and Prorail, provided guided tours in and around Tilburg Station.
pedestrial tunnel
One of the main features of de development of the former railroad factory grounds, are the tunnels that connects the neighbourhoods North and South of the station. cepezed suggested to turn the tunnel of the station into a public pedestrial passage.

cepezed also designed several new buildings and worked on the monumental station building. The station has been designed by architect Koen van der Gaast and stands out because of its 'prawn cracker roof'. The dimensional systems and low-tech solutions of this 1965's design were translated by cepezed into the new designs of the new bus station and the bicycle parking facilities.
proud
The tours were well-attended; some 70 participants strolled through the station area. 'The interaction with the participants was very nice' says architect Wiebe de Boer. 'I noticed that Tilburgers are proud of their station and its surroundings.'
