The Coenecoop College offers education to more than 950 students at the levels of vmbo (vocational and general secondary education), havo (higher secondary education) and vwo (pre-university education). cepezed and cepezedinterior integrally design the new building of the school in Waddinxveen.

In the sketch design, the new Coenecoop College consists of two rectangular, flexibly divisible educational volumes, each of three layers, with a transparent central atrium in between. The volumes are slightly offset from each other. A wooden pergola structure along the building blocks enhances the visual unity.

Het atrium is een verbindende schakel tussen de twee ondewijsvolumes en een dynamische omgeving. Het functioneert als entree, als aula en als hoofdontsluiting. Een houten hoofdtrap vormt één geheel met een speelse tribune met zitjes. Het atrium is in de avonden en weekenden zelfstandig te verhuren, wat bijdraagt aan het gewenste karakter van het Coenecoop College als ‘school van het dorp’.

green well-being

The Coenecoop college will be a healthy learning environment with an agreeable climate and good orientation options. Sight lines are long and the greenery of the surrounding grounds is extended through the atrium and the school. The walkways also have substantial greenery. The largely transparent facades contribute significantly to the relationship between inside and outside. The new teaching building will also be gas-free and will meet the requirements of both Frisse Scholen and BENG.
