Minimal distinction between office and production hall

One transparent building with a single atmosphere where the distinction between the offices and the production hall is minimal. That was the brief for the design of the new premises of Lan Handling Technologies on a new building plot in Berkel-Enschot.

Four parallel production lines

The almost triangular contour of the approximately 11,000 m² plot was an important starting point for the architectural design. The production hall consists of four parallel lines, each of different lengths. The office is situated at the head of the plot.

On dispatch

Around the hall is the dispatch route, with next to it the parking area for visitors and staff. The dispatch entrances are all at the slanting ends of the production lines, which provide the main shape of the building on the west side with its characteristic saw-tooth structure.

The workplaces

The modern office section at the head is the shortest of the building strips. This part of the building is divided into two zones. The east side includes the conference and meeting rooms. Here, there is also a strip along the façade with all the facilities that do not need daylight, such as the technical area and toilets.

Visual connection

The west side of the office volume houses open-plan offices. These are visually connected to every part of the company. They overlook the production hall and the meeting rooms, but also each other via the daylight-rich atrium in the middle of the office block.
