Jim Navarro, new business & communication

Jim has been working at cepezed since 2016. He is incredibly precise and maintains a critical mindset when specifying cepezed’s qualities for tenders or competition entries.

Jim graduated in 1995 from the Eindhoven Academy of Industrial Design. He specialised as a product designer for public spaces. After his studies, Jim worked at various agencies where his focus gradually shifted from design to PR and acquisition. He now fulfils this role, with an emphasis on acquisition and tenders, at cepezed.

Jim first encountered cepezed in the 1990s when cepezed founder Jan Pesman gave a lecture at the DAE on design methodology. cepezed’s vision immediately resonated with him and still does to this day. Over the years, Jim has seen cepezed’s projects and design language evolve, but the core ethos—an intrinsic and authentic drive to make architecture smarter and better for its users and surroundings—remains unchanged.

According to Jim, “cepezed’s strength lies in seeing opportunities where others overlook them.” Examples of such opportunities include the redevelopment of the Lekbrug bridge in Vianen, the Temporary Court of Amsterdam, which is now being relocated to Enschede, and the relocation of the Zuiderstrandtheater from Scheveningen to Oss.

cepezed’s commitment to growth and innovation is further exemplified by its research in collaboration with the What If Lab and Vattenfall. Here, cepezed is exploring possibilities for repurposing wind turbine blades that have reached the end of their operational lifespan. Jim takes pride in cepezed’s distinctive approach, which leads to such ideas, collaborations, and projects.
