Koen studied Architecture at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede and at TU Delft. He graduated in Hybrid Buildings. After graduating, Koen worked at KAAN Architects on a wide range of projects in culture, healthcare and housing.
He aspires rational and functional buildings with minimalist architecture, refined detailing and attention for materials, as in the designs by cepezed.
Good cooperation with both the client and the contractor is important to Koen, for instance at the Graafschap College in Doetinchem. Realising spatial quality and the iconic tree structure for the facade of the school required an integral approach from various parties. At the new Eenheidsbureau in The Hague, good cooperation with the client and the various users was essential. Since 2019, Koen has been paying attention to everyone's wishes and interests as project architect.
