Lodewijk completed his Bachelor of Architecture at TU Delft with several exchanges to Austria and Norway. Whereas in Delft the focus was mainly on concepts and ideas, abroad it was all about technology and buildability. After completing his bachelor, Lodewijk worked for a year at an urban planning agency in Rio de Janeiro. He also lived and worked there at several ecocentres, where his focus was on biobased building projects.
For his Master of Architecture, Lodewijk returned to Delft, where he designed a circular strategy for the Brazilian island of Paquetá for his graduation project. In it, he united the fields of architecture and Industrial Ecology. The outcome: self-sufficiency can be accompanied by the preservation of culture and it can strengthen the community. After his master's, he worked on circular building projects at architecture firm Superuse.
What attracts Lodewijk at cepezed is the focus on qualitative, buildable designs with minimal use of materials. The future-proofing of cepezed buildings also suits his vision of architecture. 'Different parts in the design remain separate from each other, making the buildings adaptable or dismantleable' says Lodewijk
One project Lodewijk is particularly proud of is the Nordic Grove in Hilversum. Here, a concrete colossus with a parking function is being transformed into a light residential building with the bottom three layers remaining intact. Lodewijk is proud of this sustainable solution and qualitative addition with lightweight housing, despite the complexity of the inner-city location.
