Romano de Groot, architectural engineer

Romano has been working at cepezed since 2023. His harmonious and calm demeanour contribute to the stability of the team.

Romano completed his bachelor's degree in architecture - specialising in construction & design - at cepezed as a graduation intern. He studied circularity through reused materials from donor buildings, after which he joined cepezed as a working student to gain more experience in architecture. His gained knowledge in construction & design, minor in renovation and transformation and his targeted decision for cepezed, he takes with him in his study proceeding with the master architecture at TU delft.

‘cepezed has a characteristic systematic style, which is reflected in the variety of projects’, says Romano. It is particularly the carefully chosen and unique making exceptions that appeal to Romano. He recognises similarities with systematics and creativity in his work as a graphic/web designer. Something he does besides working at cepezed. Apart from that, he greatly appreciates that cepezed gives him the opportunity to work on circular projects.

According to Romano, a good example of such a circular project - and one that serves as inspiration for the architectural world - is the temporary court in Amsterdam, because this building is completely demountable and remountable. In addition, Gemeentehuis Buren is a project where he is proud of his contribution. 'This is the first project where I contributed to both its design and elaboration. I was able to learn a lot from this,' says Romano.
